What If Fear Was Just a Compass?🧭📍🗺️
👉 Behind every fear is a version of you waiting to grow.

Fear has its purpose, and we should see it as such. It is not the enemy — it just is.
Fear is often associated with negative feelings and emotions we try to steer away from. All of our activity in day-to-day life lies somewhere on the spectrum between chasing pleasure and avoiding pain.
Pain and fear are two tightly connected occurrences that, if left unchecked and avoided, can take over your life.
Don’t let that happen. Make fear your friend. You’re feeling it anyway… might as well own it!
Quote 1:
“Fear kills more dreams than failure ever will.”
- Suzy Kassem (poet, philosopher, filmmaker, activist, author)
How often have you had a project you wanted to start or be a part of, but due to doubt and fear, you just didn’t take that first step? What stopped you? Was the fear that stood in your way legitimate or overblown in your head?
More often than not, we stop ourselves from pursuing something simply because we're scared—scared of things going badly, of things not working out the way we want them to, or even just scared of putting ourselves out there. And although those fears might be valid, the reality is that doing nothing will lead to the same outcome: no result.
So next time you’re scared of making a move, ask yourself:
What is the price of not doing anything?
Quote 2:
“Do one thing every day that scares you.”
- Eleanor Roosevelt (humanitarian, activist, diplomat, First Lady of the United States (1933–1945) - wife of President Franklin D. Roosevelt)
Waiting for something scary to come your way will ultimately mean you’ll only face your fears when the stakes are already high. To avoid this situation and to make sure you get comfortable with being scared—take a more proactive approach. Do the uncomfortable, scary thing.
Ask that cute girl at the bar out.
Ask your boss for that promotion.
Have that conversation with your partner or family member that you’ve been avoiding.
Own your fear, and you’ll see how it starts to melt away as you take control of it.
Quote 3:
“To get over the fear, you go.”
- Jocko Willink (Led SEALs, writer, taught discipline)
Lastly, the way to get over the fear of anything is simply by doing it. I know it sounds simpler than it is, but honestly, you can make it as complicated or as simple as you want it to be.
At the end of the day, it's just about making that first small step—and then, out of nowhere, the road will appear and the fear will slowly fade away, or at the very least, no longer feel as big as it did before you moved.
On a personal note — Trying to get over my fears, I was wondering which one is my biggest fear and came to the conclusion that it is definitely the fear of heights. Although this is one of the only two fears that are wired into our DNA from birth (alongside the fear of loud sounds), I still didn’t want to use that as an excuse not to face it.
So, during my time in college, I decided to jump out of a plane. That was the decision I made, but I used every possible excuse to avoid actually doing it. That finally came to an end when a friend from my crew team basically gave me no choice—and we ended up taking that plane.
I jumped. I flew. I was scared out of my mind…
Then, a few seconds in, everything got quiet. What was I even scared of? Dying? Well, now it was too late to be scared. If I’m going to die, I might as well enjoy the flight.
It was magical.
When I landed, I was so hyped on adrenaline. I did it and I couldn’t have been more proud of myself.
Long story short: I’m still scared of heights lol.
