The harsh truth that sets high-agency people free

Before we dive in, let’s quickly define what a “high agency” person actually is. I know I wasn’t totally clear on it myself until not too long ago.

High agency is basically a mindset. It’s when someone takes full ownership of their actions, their results, and the path they’re on, no matter what obstacles show up. They believe they have the power to change their situation and don’t wait around for permission or perfect conditions.

Quote 1:

"The best way to predict the future is to create it."

- Peter Drucker ("the father of modern management")

Waiting for the right moment or perfect plan is a trap. And we all fall into it at some point in our lives. That is completely fine, but... The only way to shape what’s ahead is by showing up and doing the work now. Every action, no matter how small, lays a brick in the foundation of what’s to come. You don’t need permission or a crystal-clear path. All you need is just direction, discipline, and the guts to move. You’re not here to react—you’re here to lead. To lead your life the way it fits your needs. Decide what you want and go get it like it’s already yours.

Quote 2:

"The moment you accept total responsibility for everything in your life is the moment you gain the power to change anything."

- Hal Elrod (motivational self-help author)

Taking full responsibility for your life is uncomfortable, but it’s where real power begins. If you think about it, your life will always be controlled by something—be it circumstances, surroundings, people around you, your family, or your boss. So, since someone will end up controlling your life, it might as well be you!

Ownership isn’t about guilt. It’s about freedom.

Once you own your situation, you realize you’re not stuck. You can shift your habits, mindset, and direction. That’s where transformation happens. No, it’s not overnight (I know, I wish it was), but it will come with permanent, small daily progress.

It’s not easy, but it’s simple: own your life, and you unlock the ability to shape it into something better, stronger, and most importantly yours.

Quote 3:

"Don’t ask for permission. Ask for forgiveness."

- Grace Hopper (pioneering computer scientist)

Sometimes, if you wait for permission, you’ll be waiting forever. It’s only natural—we were raised to ask for it. At home, from our parents. At school, from teachers. And later, in our careers, we follow company rules and wait for someone to say “go.”

But most bold moves in life—whether in business, creativity, or personal growth—don’t come with green lights or perfect timing. You’ve got to trust your gut, take initiative, and go for it.

Playing it safe might keep you comfortable, but it won’t get you far. Growth needs risk, action, and the guts to make a few mistakes. If your intention is clear and your heart’s in the right place—act now and explain later.

On a personal note â€” This newsletter is a perfect example of me taking control over my life. After quitting my professional career as an athlete, there was a long period of searching for something that would fulfill me and take over me, just like being a rower for the national team did. However, life doesn’t work that way. It wasn’t until I actually tried different things and took bold actions that I came up with the idea of starting something like this gold you’re reading 😉.

But even this project wouldn’t have come into existence if I had taken the usual route of waiting until January, instead of starting in December when the idea hit me. Or if I had waited until Monday, as I originally planned, I might never have started this project. That’s why this email goes out every Wednesday—it was just the day I ended up sending the first email on 😄.
