Quote 1:
“Boredom always precedes a period of great creativity.”
- Robert M. Pirsig (philosopher, writer, Zen motorcyclist)
Nowadays, it is almost impossible to be bored. We have our technology that keeps us amused at the click of a button or the sound of a voice command. Even more sadly, we’ve grown so accustomed to it that at the slightest sign of discomfort, we run toward the familiarity of our phone screens.
That being said, we deprive ourselves of living in the moment and of being truly bored. And being bored is what will lead us to the great creativity that makes us feel alive, content, and ultimately happy.
Quote 2:
“The cure for boredom is curiosity. There is no cure for curiosity.”
- Dorothy Parker (witty poet, critic, satirist, screenwriter)
Bored people can also look busy and act busy, while in reality feeling discontent and ultimately bored with what they are doing. They lack genuine interest in the task or the matter they are partaking in.
That being said, if you do feel bored - good. That is part of the process of being a normal, creative human being. And if you want to use this boredom for good, ask yourself: What sparks curiosity in me?
And do more of that.
Quote 3:
“Boredom is your mind’s way of telling you you’re ready for change.”
- Unknown
Learning is a natural state of humans. Picking up a new activity or skill at first feels like a big challenge, but with time and repetition it becomes easier and easier to perform. It might even get so easy that you start feeling bored.
In that moment, I challenge you to step aside and ask yourself: is this boredom just temporary, or is it a sign that you’ve outgrown the situation? If it’s the latter and you are constantly bored and unstimulated, then maybe it’s time to seek change in your life.
What could that challenge be for you?
On a personal note — I was a professional athlete, then a rowing coach, and finally a sport psychologist. Altogether, that lasted for about 20 years, and I loved every moment of it. However, after a while, I realized I was not challenged enough in my everyday life and decided I needed a change in my career.
It is not easy to do a 180-degree shift in my mid 30s, but I realized that it was a more honest path to take than lying to myself that I was happy where I was. So, I took on a sales job (which I actually enjoy) and started this work of art that you are reading right now. 😉
I hope today’s newsletter inspires you to take bold action toward your dreams and goals in life. We should dedicate our time to the things that excite us. Whatever they may be.

Matthew Perry as Chandler in Friends - amazing as always.
You are missed!❤️
